The Power of Chocolate

Chocolate is loved by people around the world regardless gender, age and status. I am one of them. The chocolate’s tastes are undeniable good and tasty, right? The cream and the cocoa taste are marvellous. Are you a chocolate lover? Many people claim that they are chocolate expert but what do you know about chocolate?
Do you know that chocolate are actually good for our health. People may ask you not to eat chocolate as it fattening you. Plus, chocolate may look full of cream and sweet but there are also advantages of taking chocolate to our body. I have read from one novel stated that eating chocolate actually can reduce stress and restore our good feeling whenever we feel depressed. I found that the smell of chocolate itself increases theta brain waves, which trigger relaxation. From that on my attention started to focus more on chocolate and I found many suprising facts about chocolate. Below are some of the foundings combined several articles.
*      Chocolate contains a range of nutrients which include minerals such as potassium, calcium and iron. It also contains the B-vitamin riboflavin. It is true that most of chocolates’ calories do come from fat but the ingredient, known as cocoa butter, is the kind of fat that consists mostly of monounsaturated fatty acid also found in olive oil; the ‘healthy’ fat needed in all diets. Although studies are constantly being done with chocolate (and why not?), studies in the past (e.g. Netherlands, 2006, Harvard, 2003) have shown two significant additional positives. In these test studies, the people who consumed cocoa regularly had a lower blood pressure than those that did not, were less likely to die from cardiovascular disease and had better peripheral blood flow.
*
Dark chocolate has the potential to have the largest quantity of cocoa solids – at least to 70%. This means that 70% of the chocolate is from the cocoa bean and less from added sugars, oils and perhaps other fillers. Thus the antioxidants in the dark chocolate help the cardiovascular system by reducing blood pressure. Flavonoids found in cocoa products have antioxidant, anti-inflammatory, anti-clotting effects that can reduce the risk of diabetes by improving insulin sensitivity.

*      Dark chocolate has more cacao (the beans that chocolate are made from) and less sugar than other chocolates, so it is considered healthier than milk and white chocolate.
*      Eating dark chocolate widens arteries and promotes healthy blood flow that can prevent the buildup of plaque that can block arteries.
*      Eating dark chocolate every day reduces the risk of heart disease by one third.
*      People have been using chocolate for medicinal purposes since way back – the Mayans and Aztecs knew that mixing cacao beans with common plant extracts could help alleviate everything from toothaches to heartburn.
I just love chocolate the way there are..^^

My Favourite Food in Ramadhan al Mubarak

Ramadhan al Mubarak is a very special month for all Muslim around the world including Malaysia.  In my opinion, what i like when it comes to fast is the bazaar. In bazaar, we can buy all kind of food. For sure all of us already have our choice of food in mind. Emm.. let me think. What comes to my mind now is Nasi Ayam or chicken rice.

Chicken rice

- the sauce is so thick, black sweet and sour. i have seen my aunt make it using oyster sauce and sesame oil.
- the chicken is so tender and it has very nice fragrant that can make your stomach sound wildly
- now we talk about the rice. even though it just a simple rice but when we cook it with butter and other spices the rice taste very different than usual.
- to make the sambal, it is so simple. we just need pepper, ginger, lime and other simple ingredients.
- now the only things left is the salad and tomatoes!

My favourite drinks ever are of course coconut water and ABC. Back to my hometown, it is so easy to get  these two. However,  here, in KL it quite hard for me to get those drinks because i still not familiar with some places here. Nevertheless, in this ramadhan, i will try to get them, Insyaallah...

Is Advertising Information or Manipulative?

Advertising is a form of communication. An advertisement is the public medium that promotes a product, service or event or publicizing a job vacancy to the consumers. Usually, commercial advertisers often seek  for 'branding' associating a product name or image with certain qualities in minds of consumers or to generate increased consumption of their products or services . Advertisement has caught the consumer's attention in their daily life badly. For example, the Fair and Lovely advertisement where the actress was so beautiful and make us want to try the products and become pretty like the actress. Another example is Digi advertisement. In this ad, Yuna and Big Bang collaboration  manage to capture the society's attention especially teenagers'  since Kpop fever spread widely nowadays. However, is advertising information or manipulative?

There are many types of advertising such as internet advertisement, newspaper advertisement, television advertisement and many others. In fact, billboards, posters, fliers, and other print media are advertisement that are visible almost everywhere. First of all advertisement is informative because in the advertisement, the information given is in details. The details  including  materials use, how to use the products and the product's producer. These info are important for consumer to read and make a right choice. Advertisement also helps a lot in giving info about an event, concert or an agency to the society.

Furthermore, advertisement raises the awareness about particular products among consumers. Advertising of any issue or products would let the consumers acknowledge about their product. In that way, there will be wide variety of choices in the industry. That is why many people like to watch and read advertisement since they find it very informative and helpful.  Through advertisement, the sales of the products is increase since advertisement helps to make the product look brand and popular. For example Coke, Pepsi, KFC, Adidas and many others.

On the other hand, advertising can also be manipulative. If we see all advertisement around us, the words used are very persuasive. These persuasive words are very effective in creating good and convincing images. people are easily fell into the 'traps' of the advertisers. Without considering other criteria, they believed at the tagline or information given because advertising are manipulative to consumer.

Moreover, the advertisement only announce the advantages side of the products. A new study finds that the best strategy for advertisers trying to persuade a skeptical audience is to leave out facts and focus more on emotional ads. On the flip side, it found that those who are less skeptical are more persuaded by more information-based ads ( 55 Interesting Facts About Advertisement, 2013) . The info given is not definitely true because the advertisers only want to highlight the benefits of their products. Even if they include the disadvantages, they probably will not emphasise them much to make sure that the viewers do not pay much attention on that. Plus, with the help of high technology, the advertisers able to manipulate the viewers since the advertisement looks nice and very beneficial.

As for conclusion, advertising give people all sorts of info. However, they all cannot be trusted hundred per cent. Here, I want stand my point that advertising is manipulative rather than giving information to the viewers.
